Austin Photographer Gets New Branding, Website, & Blog

We are excited to show you the finished logo, branding, website and blog design for Ziem Photography, located in Austin, Texas. Ziem produces beautiful wedding, engagement and portrait photography.

Starting with her logo design, we really wanted to design a soft, delicate and classy brand with a touch of freshness and fun. We designed the brand with a soft blue lace and vibrant orange color scheme along with a bold, structured lettering to give it all a modern feeling.

Dallas wedding planner, As You Wish, gets a modern new brand, website, blog and collateral kit

We have been quietly working on the brand new brand, website, blog and collateral pieces for Dallas's own As You Wish Events. We started working with Shari and her team after meeting them on a wedding branding project for one of their brides. We talked about creating a brand that showed off their fabulous planning and wedding design work. They were looking for a design that represented their stylish, sophisticated and modern business personality.

We kicked off the project with the new logo design (simple, modern and straight to the point)...

wedding planner logo ideas, logo designer, branding agency, wedding planner branding , dallas, austin

Here is a quick look at their old logo...

Next we moved on with the website and blog design. We focused on creating a site that reflected their simplistic sophistication while also showcasing all of their different styles of weddings that they have been involved with over the last 10 years. Take a look...

The last component of their brand overhaul was their marketing and collateral material. Here is a look at a few of the items that we created for them.

Business cards, Package Sales Sheets (they are different sizes so when placed in their marketing folder the titles of each package are staggered and revealed), Marketing folder (sized at a 6X9 si that is convenient for the bride but still stands out from the standard size portfolio folder). We used a bright white folder to keep the clean organized look and printed wrap stickers around each folder to brand them, Thank you note cards, And lastly, stickers (a perfect component to add to your branding package so that anything can be customized with your brand in a hurry).

Now that you've seen their new look we're sure that you'll want to learn more about Shari and her team...we asked them a few questions so that you could do just that.

  1. How long have you been in business? 10 Years
  2. What do you do? (Short summary describing your business) We plan beautiful weddings around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
  3. Why did you start your business? Shari Johns started her own business after working in the corporate events world. After being asked to help with a relative’s wedding, she found much joy and appreciation from creating an event that is so personal and special, so she started her own business in the wedding world.
  4. What is unique about your business? (Why would someone want to use your services) We don’t create cookie cutter weddings. We take pride in making each event as unique as the brides that hire us.
  5. What is the process like to work with you?   Our goal is to make the planning process fun and stress free. Communication is key!
  6. Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? We were impressed by the creativity that Doodle Dog has displayed with our clients and decided to see how that could help our own business.

About You:

  1. Tell us about your family.  Two little boys and super supportive husband
  2. Do you have any pets? What are their names? Dog names sophie

Dreamers Joy (New Jersey Event Planner), get’s a modern new blogsite!

Sarah De Jesus, New Jersey based wedding and event planner, came to us  to get a fabulous new blogsite that was clean, organized, easy to navigate and most importantly was convenient for her to update on her own. Sarah was looking for a design that included the bold blue and green tones that she had already been working with in her logo and resembled the fun loving brand personality that she had. Sarah does a ton of themed parties for all occasions so we did need to keep in mind that she would need a very clean canvas to showcase her photography and not take away from the designs she had created. So we designed her site with a mostly white background with elements of playful fun dropped throughout every page. From the dot burst around the logo to the wavy lines and nostalgic quotes that vary from page to page, every element was considered.

Here is a look at the site.

Dreamers Joy has been featured on quite a few sites, like Hostess with the Mostess, The Martha Stewart Blog and Catch My Party, just to name a few... so we wanted to be sure to "show off" to prospective clients on our Press page.

If you are interested in contacting Dreamers Joy for your new event, you can find out more information here.

  1. How long have you been in business? We opened for business in September 2011
  2. What do you do? We are a boutique wedding planning firm.
  3. Why did you start your business? First and formost, I absolutely love what I do.  Secondly, during my years in the business, I saw a lot of things I would change and felt I could do better myself, having my own company gave me the freedom to plan and conduct business , and the way I thought was best for my clients.
  4. What is unique about your business? Everything is more personal with our group.  We focus on a smaller number of clientele and a greater awareness of detail.  We provide brides to be the service of a small firm and all the amenities of a large one.  Our client’s main point of contact is Ashley Brinkley.  Anytime they call, text, email or meet with us, they work with Ashley.  Every conversation that is had with a vendor or venue is done by Ashley.  This really ensures no details are lost in translation.  Then when the wedding weekend comes, Ashley brings in her team of all certified and trained wedding planners to ensure that the big event is expertly run.  We make sure that we are there for every one of our clients needs – big and small, relevant and irrelevant.  Ashley is the type of planner who responds to her clients texts at midnight on a Saturday.
  5. What is the process like to work with you? We meet our clients for a free initial consulation.  At this time we get to know the client, let the client get to know us, and give them an overview of the services we can provide the.m.  Next we get down to business!  We review any work that the bride to be has initially done, recommend vendors and venues based on her personality, style and budget.  And plan one fabulous wedding!
  6. Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? I have heard nothing but raving reviews of Nikki.  She came to my rescue after working with TWO other terrible companies.  They couldn’t even come close to the look I was trying to create.  Doodle Dogs created it perfectly and on the first try!

Tell us about your family.

My family is very adventurous, we love to take off the grid vacations and participate in adrenaline pumping activites.  We have done everything from taking Scuba Diving trips across the globe, to skydiving, to taking a helicopter trip to a glacier on the top of the Swiss alps to toast my own wedding.  I have the most amazing husband in the world,  we are fortunate to be able work nextdoor to each other, so I can peek in an say hi during the day!

Do you have any pets? What are their names? My husband and I are huge animal lovers.  We have a English Lab, Layla, and an English Bulldog, Shorty.   Its not uncommon to find these two at the office with me!

Where do you like to shop?

I LOVE clothes.  I love to find unique pieces in small boutiques and find Neimans and Nordstroms my staple stores.   I love that they let me shop til I drop then go back later to make returns after I realize I have way overshopped!  I get soo excited when I get my Neiman Marcus book in the mail, I always schred it open!  Its kind of my fashion bible!

Describe yourself and your style.

My wedding style is romantic modern – bringing in some whimsy and vintage elemants.  My personal style is very modern – my husband and I love ultra modern furniture and homes.

Where do you find inspiration?

Besides the standard wedding blogs and magazines that I love, and of course pinterst.  I find a lot of inspiration from my travels – everything from the zen feel of a boutique European hotel lobby to the color palate of the Arizona desert.  My clients are my biggest inspiration, they all come in with a story, a photo, a color pallette, or location idea that causes all these fun personal ideas to come flooding in.

A Day in the life of you consist of:

I wake up at about 7am.  Put on the coffee and take the pups for a walk.  Then I sit down have a few cups of coffee eat some breakfast, answer emails and do a couple hours of work.   At 9:30 I go to a crossfit or yoga class.  After that, quick shower and dress and head to the office…. Then work, work, work – consults, vendor meetings, networking lunch, ect.

I usually head home around 6:30.  I’ll stop at my  favorite store, Central Market, on my way home – eat some samples (ok a lot, especially the sushi),  and pick up some stuff to turn into a yummy dinner.  My husband and I love to eat dinner on the couch with a bottle of red wine and watch one of our shows – Ringer anyone?  Then walk the dogs one last time and head to bed!

My other passion and talent in life is cooking.  I spend several hours in the kitchen every night whipping up over the top meals completely from scratch.  It is so relaxing for me, and I LOVE to eat – so win win!  I hope to one day open a corner market type restaurant .

Introducing Plano based Petals, A Florist and their new website

We have been laughing since our very first meeting when we walked into the Petals studio and Juli referred to me as "Nikki Nun-chucks". It has since been a common reference in nearly every meeting and phone call since ;)

So we kicked off the project with a couple of goals in mind...

1. get rid of the flash site that was on their current site

2. make the site easy to edit - so that new photos and revisions to text can be made effortlessly

3. and give the site a bit more of a classy look - but keep the existing logo and accent of hot pink ( if you happened to see the site before it had a very young "bubblegum" look to it)

Here's a look at the new site:

Texas Wedding Planner – Rachel Events gets a new website!

If you know Rachel, you know that she needs a website and brand that can keep up with her vibrant and entertaining personality! Rachel came to Doodle Dog in search of a site that could do just that but also represent her professionalism.

Here's a look at her new blogsite:wedding planner website, wedding planner blogsite, austin website designer, dallas website designer

wedding planner website, wedding planner blogsite, austin website designer, dallas website designer

As you can see we toned the color palette down a bit from the previous black, teal and silver to a navy, gray and silver. Because Rachel had developed a name in her market she wanted to stick with some of her most commonly know graphics that she did feel represented her brand - like her logo. So we tweaked the colors here as well to match the new look and dropped all of the new designs on to a clean white background to bring in that professional look.

Want to get to know a little more about Rachel and Rachel Events?

  1. How long have you been in business? This is our 5th year
  2. What do you do? Specialize in planning uniquely fabulous weddings. Original, fun and trendy weddings is what we love to do!
  3. Why did you start your business? I love weddings and have a passion for pulling together fabulous events.
  4. What is unique about your business? We pride ourselves on creative and original ideas… we don’t copy ideas from one wedding to the next! We are always coming up with different ideas that fit the style and theme of each wedding.
  5. What is the process like to work with you? Working with us is fun, laid back, stressfree, we will laugh a lot and probably have a cocktail too! Wedding planning is fun and shouldn’t be stressful to any bride.
  6. Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? Doodle Dog understood my vision for my site and helped me bring it to life! Which I am sure was hard to do as I am not a website designer! Nikki and her staff were great with helping me work through issues along the way with my hosting sites and such.

Tell us about your family. I am married to my wonderful husband; we travel a lot and play as hard as we work!

Do you have any pets? What are their names? Yes, we have StarZee the MaltiPoo and she is 3 and then we just got Watson Parks our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy for Christmas, he is 9 weeks old …. And already giving StarZee headaches!

Where do you like to shop? I am not sure there is enough room here… Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Anthropology, Ideeli, Haute, Boutiques all over, to name a few!

Describe yourself and your style. My style is funky, original, a bit quirky and generally over the top in every way I can make it! I love to be different and stand out in a crowd. I tend to over dress to everything just to make an entrance!

Where do you find inspiration? Honestly, I don’t really read a lot of magazines or follow a ton of blogs. I truly think my inspiration comes from a crazy desire to be different!

A Day in the life of you consist of:

My husband will put StarZee in bed with me when he gets up to leave for work, her and I will snuggle and sleep for another hour or two, get up around 8am, put on work out clothes, go play with Watson Parks for a little bit, check some emails while drinking hot cider, head to LA Fitness and get my workout on, check some more emails, fix my husband lunch if I don’t have any meetings, then meet up with a couple of brides to design a few wedding things, think of something awesome to cook for dinner, stop by Nordstroms just to make sure there isn’t anything I missed, head home, cook dinner, play with the puppies!

Happy 28th Birthday Doodle Dog!

OK. you're right we're not actually 28 unless were talking dog years (haha).

So we're actually 4 years old today and it's been a crazy, fun-filled 4 years! For those of you who don't know it all started back in college when a friend's company needed some work done and I took on the job as freelance (on top of my job at an ad agency). After the freelance started it really never stopped and after I had a few clients I decided i should probably put together a business name, get some cards and probably put up a website, and as they say the rest was history. I worked a full time job and kept up the freelance gigs on the side for about 2 years, at which point Doodle Dog became the full time gig.

In the last 2 years Doodle Dog has enjoyed the opportunity to work with over a 100 clients around the nation and we've loved every single minute of it.  So thank you all for following us along the way, helping us grow and being our biggest fans! And of course, thank you to Laura (my right hand woman) for all of her hard work over the last year !

Introducing Dallas Event Planner – Urban Magnolia – and their new website!

We are thrilled to introduce one of the newest wedding and event planners to hit the Dallas scene! Starting out less than a year ago, Urban Magnolia has been helping brides coordinate weddings and assisting future mothers with the process of planning for babies. We asked Kristine Baker (owner of Urban Magnolia) to tell us a bit more about her business...

  1. Why did you start your business? I wanted to help people with some of the most important days in their lives that can easily become stressful.
  2. What is unique about your business? I plan for both brides and mommies.  Babies are so cute and Brides are always beautiful. I also recently completed my certification with the AACWP, so I am now a Trained Wedding Planner.
  3. What is the process like to work with you? I like to do an initial interview, so that we can both meet to see if we are a match.  After the initial interview and if we are a good fit, then I will send over all my information to see what best suits the bride/mommy.  The rest is all setting up and planning…the fun stuff!
  4. Why did you decide to work with Doodle Dog? I adore their style and love how they organize websites!

Here's a look at what we put together for Urban Magnolia's new website and blog design...

Want to learn more about Kristine and Urban Magnolia?

  1. Tell us about your family. My parents have been married for over 40 years and reside in Plano with one dog named Buddee (yes that is the official AKC registered spelling of their dog’s name).  I met my husband about five years on a blind date.  We got married three years almost to the day after meeting each other.  His name is Brian and works in home mortgages.  I am so blessed to have my best friend to come home to everyday.
  2. Do you have any pets? What are their names?  I do!!  I have a fish tank full of community fish (if you are into fish you know that means that my fish don’t attack each other).  I used to name them, but I had one die that I named and I promptly stopped.  I also have a puppy named Samantha.  She is part Rottweiler and possibly Rhodesian Ridgeback, but we got her from a rescue so it is hard to tell.  Her past times are chasing after bunnies, chewing on mom’s shoes (mom is me), and going on walks.   Please note that her name came with her, which was given to her by a little girl who named her after an American Girl doll.

3. Where do you like to shop? Everywhere!  H&M, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, White House Black Market, Max Studio, BCBG, Neiman Marcus, J Crew, Gap, Kohl’s, etc.  Basically, I like clothes and if they are cute I am coming shopping.

4. Describe yourself and your style. I feel I am a ridiculously positive person.  I love to be organized.  I love scrapbooking and my newest hobby is quilting.  I adore all things that are truly antique.  I am a big fan of Canton and Z Gallery (which don’t go together unless you come into my house.)  As for my style, antiques, lover of real wood (I have wood furniture all over my house and love it!), bright colors, mod patterns, all metallics (bronze, copper, pewter, silver, and gold) and all shades of grey.

5. Where do you find inspiration? Everywhere!  Wedding Chicks, Ruffled, Bustled, and many more wedding blogs.  I also find inspiration in art work, fashion magazines, Architectural Digest and (oddly enough) Pinterest.  I also find it on photographers’ websites, because essentially they are artists with a camera.

A Day in the life of you consist of:

Right now.  Here is my day and for the record, I am not a morning person.

4:45am – Puppy wakes up and needs to be let out.  Puppy then returns to my bed to sleep or eat chewy…I am training to be out of the bed, but that takes time and at 4am anything I don’t have the energy.

5:15am- Alarm goes off to get me up to go workout.  (Yes, I go back to sleep after that.  It seems odd, but I tried getting up earlier and I get tired earlier.)I work out at 24 Hour Fitness.

5:30am- Out the door to the gym!  At the gym, I have started checking email for Urban Magnolia while I am during cardio.  I am working on sandwiching my workouts, so cardio, weight training, cardio, out of the gym.

6:30am-Come home from the gym and start making my lunch and breakfast!  My breakfast is the same: Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt with fresh berries and toast.  My Lunch is about the same:  Egg Salad with Almonds and Celery mix in, Whole Wheat Crackers, Carrots and Snap Peas to eat, and two cookies (because I have done so well that day two cookies won’t hurt).

7:10 am- I am getting ready for my day job and working with puppy to understand that the closet is a “no” zone.

7:50am-Wrapping up and getting ready and checking email for Urban Magnolia.

8:10am- Let puppy out one last time and head off to day job.

1:00pm- Leave work to let puppy out and train her. (Side Note:  Brian, my husband, will do this if needed, but I usually do it because I am closer to home)

2:00pm-Back at day job!  Somewhere in here I eat lunch in pieces.

2:00-6:00pm – Answering Emails for both day job and Urban Magnolia Weddings and Events.  It is a juggling act right now, but it won’t be that way forever.

6:00pm- Leave Work and head home!

6:35pm – Arrive Home and Start Dinner, if needed.  I am huge advocate of cooking on Sundays, so that the rest of the week all you have to do reheat.  Husband is a fan as well. J  I will say that I have learned how to make most dinners that are high protein, high fiber and low carb in under 20 minutes…that has to be a record.

7:15pm- Eat Dinner while puppy jumps on the table trying to snag a bite.

7:45:pm- Wash up from Dinner and walk puppy (this is walk number 2.  My husband does the morning walk and I do the nightly walk with my husband and puppy)  My husband and I both do the dishes from dinner.  My dad saw this the other day and said that we “ make a good team!”

8:10pm- Arrive Home from walk and start answering emails, because that it just too late to call someone back.  I also work on my new blog!

10:15pm – Everybody goes to sleep, so that we can wake up the next morning and repeat.  And by this time I am tired and puppy is asleep by my feet.
